シャチブリ属の一種

Specimen examined：1 (TL ca. 231 mm).
Counts：D 9; A+C 80; P1 11,; P2 3; GR 1+8.
特 徴：
（科）： 体は柔軟で無鱗。背鰭は1基で基底は短く，頭の直後にある。腹鰭は数本の軟条からなり，喉位。臀鰭基底は著しく長く，尾鰭と連続する。（属）： 腹鰭は長く，先端は腹鰭起部と肛門との中間点をこえる。（種）： 吻の先端は丸い。体は柔らかく，鱗はない。側線は1本で，体側中央部にある。上顎にのみ歯がある。鰓耙は太く短い。
分 布：
スリナム沖。
備 考：
本標本は腹鰭の長さによりシャチブリ属 Ateleopus に属する。A+Cの鰭条数が既知の種と一致しないのでシャチブリ属の一種とした。 （清水）
Distinctive characters：
(Family)： Body flabby and naked. One dorsal fin, base short, located just behind head. Pelvic fin jugular, with a few rays. Anal fin base extremely long, continuous with caudal fin. (Genus)： Pelvic fin long, its tip exceeding mid-point between pelvic fin base and anus. (Species)： Snout tip round. Body flabby, no scales. A lateral line on mid body. Only upper jaw teethed. Gill rakers stout and short.
Distribution：
Off Suriname.
Remarks：
The present specimen belongs Ateleopus for its length of pelvic fin. It is identified Ateleopus sp., since the fin ray count of anal plus caudal fins does not agree with any described species. (Shimizu)
