(Family): Head with many ridges. Anal fin originated under or behind midpoint of dorsal fin base. No isolated spine in front of dorsal and anal fins. Pelvic fin thoracic, with 1 spine and 6〜8 soft rays. Deciduous small cycloid scales on side. No photophore. (Genus): Crest-like forntal ridge without serration. Teeth of jaws minute, in bands. One supramaxillary. Dorsal fin with 3 spines and 14〜18 soft rays. (Species): Gill rakers 20 or more (5〜6+15〜17). Pelvic fin with 1 spine and 7 soft rays. Dorsal fin with 13〜15 soft rays. Scales on side without circuli on exposed area. No posttemporal spine.
