(Family): Two dorsal and one anal fins. No chin barbel. Vomerine teeth present. Mouth terminal. BR 7. No pyloric caeca. (Genus): Anus situated just behind pelvic bases; urogenital opening near anal fin origin (Fig.). Anterior 10〜12 rays of anal fin elevated. Tail tapering without caudal fin. (Species): Upper jaw teeth single row anterioly, two rows posteriorly; outer series enlarged and wide spaced; lower jaw teeth single row, similar to those on outer series of upper jaw. Vomerine teeth arranged in U-shape row. Palatine teeth absent. Gill rakers long and slender. Anus and urogenital opening connected by a light brownish stripe. Ventral striae of light organ present from mandible to tail.
Distribution:
Middle western Atlantic.
Remarks:
The species resembles macrourid fishes, but differs in having urogenital opening much separated from anus. (Arai)
