Dorsal fins situated fairly backward of body and same in size. First dorsal originated above the middle of pelvic base. Distance between first and second dorsal fins nearly equal to preocular length and mouth width. Distance between pectoral and pelvic bases slightly longer than distance from tip of snout to spiracle. Length of anal fin base less than 15% of TL. Snout long, preoral length about 1/10 of TL. Eye large, 2/5 of preoral length, and slightly smaller than internarial width. No enlarged denticles along upper margin of caudal fin. Labial folds prominent continuous around the corner of mouth. Teeth similar on jaws, mostly 7 cusped.
Distribution:
Off Delaware, east coast of the United States (type locality). Off Suriname.
Remarks:
The present species closely allied to A. laurussonii, but in the latter, distance between bases of pectoral and pelvic shorter than distance from tip of snout to spiracle (Springer, 1979). (Uyeno and Sasaki)
