Height 28 mm. Shell thin, oval, involute without showing spires externally but apical area is plugged with a callus. Surface white with more than 100 spiral striations, tending more closely apically and sometimes rippled because of being crossed by growth lines, or become like punctations on the ventral surface. Aperture broad with a thin outer lip. Inner to columellar lips curved in gentle sigmoidal with a deposition of white callus which fused with that plugging the apex.
Distribution:
North Carolina, Florida, Gulf of Mexico, and off Suriname. Bathyal to abyssal.
Remarks:
This species differs from the preceding species, S. watsoni, in having rather broad apical portion and plugged apex.
