特 徴：
殻高93mm，殻径62mm。殻は厚質で重い。殻の概形は紡錘形であるが，成殻の殻口外唇が袖状に張り出す。胎殻は乳頭状で黄色，後生層は初め縦肋と螺肋の交叉する布目状であるが，のち螺状彫刻は極めて低く不明瞭となり，縦肋は間隔のあいた肩部の瘤列となる。肩の瘤は最後から2番目と3番目（動物の最も背側に位置する）2つは著るしく高い三角錐状結節となっている。体層には平低な螺状肋上に発達した低い結節列があと2列ある。殻色は淡紫色の地の上に不規則な褐色雲斑や縞状もようがあり，所々で濃い点にもなる。殻口は外唇が拡張し外唇と軸唇はやや平行的。外唇は厚く，内壁は殆ど平滑で淡紅色，但し殻口部のみはいぶし銀色の滑層がある。下方（前方）には深いU字状切れ込みがあり，ここには低い螺肋がある。前溝は強く右に曲る。後溝は深く内壁に強い数本の肋があり，外唇後端と合するところは切れ込むため，二叉状になる。軸唇は外唇同様いぶし銀色の滑層を厚くかぶっていて平滑。蓋は爪形で，両縁滑らか。歯舌採集記録：
水深40〜70m（生貝7）。
分 布：
フロリダ，西インド諸島，バーミューダからブラジルまで。上部浅海帯。
Diagnostic characters：
Height 93 mm, breadth 62 mm. Shell thick and heavy, fusiform, with expanded outer lip. Earlier teleoconch cancellated, but spiral sculpture becomes obsolete later while axial ribs grow shoulder knobs of which dorsal two being prominent. Body whorl with two more rows of low knobs. Coloration pale purplish background with irregular brown clouds, spots or stripes. Outer lip almost parallel to the columellar lip, thickened, with a stromboid notch and posterior margin sinuous. Anterior canal strongly twisted righthand. Oxydized silvery callus deposits on outer and columellar lips. Radula of taenioglossate; central with 5 cusps diminishing size distally; lateral trapezoid with 7 large cusps; marginal sickle-shaped with large denticles above.
Distribution：
Florida, West Indies, Bermuda, Brazil and off Suriname. Sublittoral to shelf.
