Height 93 mm, breadth 62 mm. Shell thick and heavy, fusiform, with expanded outer lip. Earlier teleoconch cancellated, but spiral sculpture becomes obsolete later while axial ribs grow shoulder knobs of which dorsal two being prominent. Body whorl with two more rows of low knobs. Coloration pale purplish background with irregular brown clouds, spots or stripes. Outer lip almost parallel to the columellar lip, thickened, with a stromboid notch and posterior margin sinuous. Anterior canal strongly twisted righthand. Oxydized silvery callus deposits on outer and columellar lips. Radula of taenioglossate; central with 5 cusps diminishing size distally; lateral trapezoid with 7 large cusps; marginal sickle-shaped with large denticles above.
Distribution:
Florida, West Indies, Bermuda, Brazil and off Suriname. Sublittoral to shelf.
