特 徴：
外套長24cm。外套膜は薄膜状で細長い円錐形であるが，前方やや尖る。背中線上には軟甲があらわれている。鰭は長く外套長の1/2に及び，半葉は半月形で両方あわせると紡錐形である。頭部は小さいが，巨大な眼があり，眼には半月形の大小2発光器がある。腕吸盤は2列で，吸盤は球状，大吸盤角質環には20〜30の歯がある。触腕は腕より少し長い程度で掌部には4列の吸盤があり，中央吸盤には鉤状に特大となった2歯があり，縁部吸盤には数本の鋭歯をもつ。
採集記録：
水深532〜830m（25個体）。
分 布：
北大西洋，北太平洋。
備 考：
Voss（1980）によると本種は寒帯・亜寒帯性となっているが，本資料中の標本は触腕掌部の特殊な吸盤の特徴から，他種には同定出来ない。
Diagnostic characters：
Mantle elongated, thin, tapering posteriorly, 24 cm in length. Fins lanceolate, extending as half as the mantle length. Head small but with bulbous eyes that carries two crecent photophores. Arms with biserial, spherical suckers. Tentacles a little longer than arms, with 4 series of suckers on the club. Medial sucker rings with 2 hook-like, curved teeth. Marginal sucker rings with several sharp teeth.
Distribution：
North Atlantic and North Pacific.
Remarks：
This species has hitherto been regarded as the Subarctic species. But, 25 specimens from off Suriname were identified to be T. pavo based on characteristic tentacular suckers.
