Mantle elongated, thin, tapering posteriorly, 24 cm in length. Fins lanceolate, extending as half as the mantle length. Head small but with bulbous eyes that carries two crecent photophores. Arms with biserial, spherical suckers. Tentacles a little longer than arms, with 4 series of suckers on the club. Medial sucker rings with 2 hook-like, curved teeth. Marginal sucker rings with several sharp teeth.
Distribution:
North Atlantic and North Pacific.
Remarks:
This species has hitherto been regarded as the Subarctic species. But, 25 specimens from off Suriname were identified to be T. pavo based on characteristic tentacular suckers.
