ホタルイカモドキ科（Enoploteuthidae）
ダイオウホタルイカモドキ
Ancistrocheirus lesueuri Férussac et Orbigny, 1835
特 徴：
外套長19cm（成長すると30cmを越える）。体は比較的柔らかく，鰭は外套の全側縁に亘り全体菱形。外套膜の腹面に発光器が疎らにある。腕は太く，鉤が2列並んでいる。触腕も太く，掌部は余り広く拡がらないが鉤が2列ある。触腕柄部にも発光器がある。
採集記録：
水深810m（2個体）。
分 布：
全世界の温熱帯域。
備 考：
大型になるので採集記録は少ないが，海の表層からごく普通にとれるゴマダライカThelidioteuthis alessandriniがその幼若形と思われているがNesis（1978）は本属にはA. alessandriniとA. lesueuriの2種が存在すると唱えている。
Diagnostic characters：
Mantle conical, 19 cm in length (exceeds 30 cm in full grown stage), flabby. Fins extend to the entire length of lateral mantle, rhombic in outline. Arms stout, with 2 series of hooks. Tentacle also stout with 2 rows of strong hooks. Sparse photophores present on the ventral mantle and also on the tentacular stalk.
Distribution：
Bathypelagic in the world oceans.
Remarks：
Nesis (1978) claimed that there are two species within this genus：A. lesueuri and A. alessandrini.
