Carapace rather c甲殻綱 アミ目ompressed. Rostrum almost equal in length to carapace, and its dorsal margin sharply carinated, extending backward as a dorsal carina of carapace to posterior border and furthermore being produced to be a posterior long spine; dorsal and lateral margins of rostrum with serrated minute teeth; a transverse carina from posterior median spine to anterior one-third, and also a curved carina along posterior end of lower margin of carapace from same place of upper carina to sharp supraorbital spine; upper carina extended downward as a transverse groove across hepatic region to attain submarginal carina; branchiostegal spine strong, and a small tubercle behind it. Antennal scale rather ovate, its distal end of outer margin being produced to be a spine and in a level of inner lobe. Each abdominal segment with a dorsal terminal spinule; first to fifth pleurae each with two spines on broad bases, but in sixth segment pleura with one spine, and pleurae of both sides not united.
Distribution:
Atlantic and Indian Oceans, and the Pacific Ocean except for Asiatic coast and north of 40°N, 400-2,000 m.
