Carapace convex fore and aft, and covered with soft short hairs; dorsal surface indistinctly separated into regions, with uneven posterior half; each posterior branchial region convex dorsally and covered with minute granules. Front thin, plate-like and extended nearly horizontally, without a distinct median emargination; eyestalk fixed. Anterolateral border of carapace with two spines; anterior spine directed obliquely forward, and posterior spine directed laterally and obliquely upward, and forms a lateral angle of carapace. Chelipeds subequal, but quite dissimilar especially in male; merus with a transverse stridulating organ capable of scraping against granules of subhepatic region; carpus markedly elongate; right chela with both fingers strongly convex and leaving a wide gape, while palm of left chela very thin and markedly expanded below. Ambulatory legs slender and surface downy.
