甲幅10cm。大形のカイカムリで，甲，はさみ脚，歩脚とも一面に短毛でおおわれている。毛はベルベット状を呈するが，硬くて手ざわりはザラザラしている。甲面は強く盛り上がり，浅い溝で甲域に分けられている。額の中央歯は下方を向き，側歯は突起状で斜め外方を向く。眼窩外歯は額の中央歯とほぼ同大の突起である。甲の前側縁には4歯あり，いずれもとがっているが，第3歯が小さく，第4歯の側縁は後方がやや葉状を呈する。後側縁の前端は斜め前方を向く突起となる。はさみ脚は巨大で，腕節の外面に低い突起が数個あり，また，掌部上縁に数個の顆粒があって毛の外に出ている。掌部内面と両指の基半分には長毛がある。前2対の歩脚は著しく太く，腕節の外面に稜がある。後2対の小さな脚は他種同様にはさみ状。 　水深不明（1♂）。 　フロリダ半島沿岸から西インド諸島を経てブラジル・サンパウロまで。水深5〜25m。 　Carapace, chelipeds and ambulatory legs thickly and uniformly covered with short stiff hairs; hairs on inner surface of chela rather long. Dorsal surface of carapace vaulted and divided into areolae by shallow and wide furrows. Frontal median tooth tuberculated and directed obliquely downward, each lateral tooth being curved outward; external orbital tooth also tuberculated and as long as frontal median tooth. Anterolateral border of carapace armed with four prominent tubercles, the third of which is the smallest; outer border of last tooth rather sinuate and thus the last tooth is more or less lobate. A tubercle at anterior end of posterolateral border. Chelipeds heavy; outer surface of carpus with some low mounds, and upper border of palm fringed with some small, truncated tubercles. Two pairs of ambulatory legs stout; outer surface of carpus with a longitudinal ridge. Two subdorsal, reduced legs subchelate as usual. 　West Atlantic from the Straits of Florida through the West Indies to Brazil, 5-25 m deep.
