A small species with a color ring on posterior half of carapace. Branchial region traversed by a shallow longitudinal sulcus which is extended anteriorly to posterior part of antennal spine and obscurely interrupted medially; orbito-antennal sulcus shallow; cardiac region crossed by a shallow curved groove extending obliquely from posterodorsal border of carapace. Rostrum distinctly curved obliquely upward, with both borders subparallel to each other along whole lengths, extending beyond cornea, but not overreaching antennular peduncle; three teeth on upper margin, two on distal margin and one at distal end of lower margin; dorsal carina of carapace strong, with a gastric tooth just behind rostrum, and with a large tooth at posterior one-third. Sculpture of abdomen distinct, and pleurae of first four segments each with a laterodorsally curved spine at anteroventral angle; abdomen with high mesial carina; that of first segment produced into a large tooth directed forward and also each posterior end of fourth to sixth segments ends in a sharp tooth.

West Atlantic from North Carolina through the Gulf of Campeche, Panama and the West Indies to French Guiana, 33-118 m deep.
