Remarks:
Our specimens which are identical to E. cryomargarites or Echiodon sp. from Chilean waters described by Markle, williamms and Olney (1983), are here tentatively allocated to the former. Echiodon is composed of 10 species (cryomargarites, coheni from Somalia, anchipterus from Philippines, cinereus from South Africa, owasianus from Japan, rendahli from the Tasman sea, drummondi from the eastern North Atlantic dentatus from the Mediterranean Sea and the eastern central Atlantic, exsilium from the eastern Pacific, and dawsoni from the eastern Gulf of Mexico and the western North Atlantic) plus 2 unidentified species (Williams, 1984).
