Body ovate and compressed, body depth 1.8〜2.0 in SL. Teeth in both jaws conical and immovable, arranged in 2 rows. Preopercular margin smooth without serrae. Scales on body ctenoid. Caudal fin slightly forked, upper and lower tips slightly pointed. Body brown, caudal fin pale yellow; other fins dusky.
Distribution:
From Florida, Bermuda to Suriname.
Remarks:
This species is separable from other Atlantic damsel-fishes by the following points:the immovable conical teeth of both jaws arranged in two rows, the caudal fin slightly forked and pale yellow in color. (Matsuura)
