(Family):Maxilla exposed and scaled. Pelvic fin with 1 spine and 5 rays. A single dorsal fin, base long, anterior dorsal spines integrated with membrane. Scales large, usually keeled. (Genus):Dorsal and anal fin membranes scaled. Head profile notably rounded. Lower edge of both mandibles touching each other in almost whole length. (Species):Pectoral fin situating high on body, distance between base of lowermost pecotral ray and insertion of pelvic fin greater than 42 percent of head length. Vertebrae 36〜38(Mead, 1972).

Western Atlantic.
Remarks:
B. dussumieri and B. brama are distribute in this waters. Both are separable from B. caribbea by their lower position of pectoral fin (percentage mentioned above less than 42). (Shimizu)
