特 徴：
体は延長し，頭部は縦扁する。頭部背面に大きな楕円形の吸盤があり，22〜24枚の板状帯をそなえる。口は幅広く，下顎は上顎よりも突出する。背鰭と臀鰭は長く，軟条のみからなる。尾鰭は湾入する。体は暗褐色で腹方は淡褐色。背鰭と臀鰭は暗褐色で末端は白色。尾鰭は黒褐色で上端と下端は白色。
分 布：
全世界の温・熱帯域。
備 考：
本種は同属のE. neucratoidesに似るが，背鰭と臀鰭の鰭条数と板状帯数が多く，体がより細いので区別できる。 （松浦）
Distinctive characters：
Body fusisorm and elongate; head depressed. A large oval-shaped disk on head with 22〜24 disk laminae. Mouth wide, lower jaw projecting beyond upper jaw. Dorsal and anal fins long, lacking spines. Caudal fin emarginate. Body dark brown, becoming paler ventrally; dorsal and anal fins dark brown with white tips; caudal fin blackish brown with upper and lower white margins.
Distribution：
Warm and tropical regions of the world.
Remarks：
This species resembles E. neucratoides but is distinguishable from it by the higher numbers of dorsal and anal fin rays, more laminae on the sucking disk, and the slender body. (Matsuura)
