Specimens examined：2 (SL 65.0，73.3 mm).
Counts：D 26～27; A 20; P1 18～19; P2 Ⅰ,6; GR 7～8+13～14=20～22.
特 徴：
（科）：背鰭と臀鰭に棘がない。腹鰭は1棘6軟条。大きな上主上顎骨が1個ある。側線がない。体側は小さな櫛鱗により覆われる。（属・種）：体の輪郭はほぼ円形。肛門は臀鰭の直前に位置する。腹鰭前方の腹中線上に稜鱗がある。主鰓蓋骨に30～33本の放射状の隆起線がある。
分 布：
大西洋，インド洋，太平洋の暖海の深海に広く分布。
備 考：
1属1種。本科の他の1属 Diretmoides ナカムラギンメ属は，肛門が腹鰭と臀鰭のほぼ中間に位置し，腹鰭前方の腹中線上に稜鱗がないことにより本属と区別される。 （上野・佐藤）
Distinctive characters：
(Family)：Dorsal and anal fins without spine. Pelvic fin with 1 spine and 6 soft rays. One large supramaxillary. No lateral line. Small ctenoid scales on side. (Genus and Species)：Profile of body circular. Anus locating just before anal fin. Scutes on ventral midline before pelvic fin. Radial ridges 30～33 on opercle.
Distribution：
Deep sea of tropical regions in Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific Oceans.
Remarks：
Monotypic genus. Another genus of this family, Diretmoides, is distinguishable from this genus by anus locating at midpoint between pelvic and anal fins, and no scutes on ventral midline before pelvic fin. (Uyeno and Sato)
