Specimens examined：3 (SL 52〜89 mm). Depth：496〜550 m.
Counts and measurements：D 4; A 4; P1 15〜16; C 8. Illicial length 57.8％ of SL; upper jaw length 24.2〜27.0; caudal peduncle depth 10.6〜11.9; caudal peduncle length 12.4〜13.8.
特 徴：
（科）：体は側扁する。口はそれ程大きくなく，口裂はほとんど垂直。両顎歯は短い。蝶耳骨棘はない。皮膚は密生する微小棘でおおわれている。背部には2〜3個の肉阜がある。背鰭は3〜5軟条。臀鰭は4〜5軟条。（属）：背鰭起部の直前に，中央に大１個とその両脇に各小1個の卵形の肉阜がある。（種）：ミツクリエナガチョウチンアンコウ1種。
分 布：
三大洋。模式産地‐西部北大西洋。
備 考：
本科は2種を含み，もう1種のビワアンコウは背中線に沿って並ぶ2個の肉阜を持つことを特徴としている。 （藤井）
Distinctive characters：
(Family)： Body compressed. Mouth not so large; its cleft almost vertical. Jaws teeth short. No sphenotic spine. Skin covered with minute, close-set spines. Two or three caruncles on back. Dorsal fin rays 3〜5. Anal fin rays 4〜5. (Genus)： A large median and two small lateral oval caruncles immediately in front of origin of dorsal fin. (Species)： One species, Cryptopsaras couesii.
Distribution：
Three major oceans. Type locality‐western North Atlantic.
Remarks：
The family includes two species. Another species, Ceratias holboelli Krøyer, is characterized by having two caruncles arranged along the mid-dorsal line. (Fujii)
