Specimen examined：1 (SL 100 mm). Depth：847 m.
Counts and measurements：D 16; A 17; P117. Total number of teeth in upper jaw 32, in lower jaw 18; vomerine teeth 1. Eye diameter 1.9％ of SL; upper jaw length 32.2; longest tooth in lower jaw 8.7; length of illicium 32.0.
特 徴*：
（科）：背鰭と臀鰭の鰭条は著しく延長する。誘引突起の先端にある擬餌状体は，糸状の付属物からなり，発光器を備える球部がない。尾鰭鰭状は8本。両顎歯は1列。（属）：誘引突起は短く，標準体長以下。背鰭は14〜22軟条。臀鰭は12〜19軟条。（種）：誘引突起は，擬餌状体の近く以外は有色で，5〜14本の細長い糸状物を全体にわたり備えるが，その糸状物は最も末端のもの以外は，誘引突起の後縁に存在する（Pietsch, 1979）。
分 布：
三大洋。スリナム沖（7°53’N，54°19’W）。模式産地-39°27’N, 71°15’W。
備 考
：本属は3種。本個体は C. jordani の大西洋での南限記録と思われる。*チョウチンアンコウ亜目Distinctive characters*：
(Familly)：Rays of dorsal and anal fins extremely prolonged. No escal bulb with light organ on illicium; esca consisting of filamentous appendages. Caudal fin rays 8. Jaws teeth in a single row. (Genus)： Illicium short, less than standard length. Dorsal fin rays 14〜22. Anal fin rays 12〜19. (Species)： Illicium pigmented except near esca, with 5〜14 elongate translucent filaments along entire length, all but distal-most arising from posterior margin (Pietsch, 1979).
Distribution：
Three major oceans. Off Suriname (7°53’N, 54°19’W). Type locality-39°27’N, 71°15’W.
Remarks：
The genus includes three species. It seems that the present individual represents the southernmost record of C. jordani from the Atlantic Ocean. *
