(Family and Genus): Gular plates absent. No fin spines. Lateral line present. Anal fin origin well behind last dorsal ray. (Species): Last rays of dorsal and anal fin smuch prolonged. Upper lobe of caudal fin sligthly longer than lower lobe. A duskly spot at pectoral base with yellow base around. Head region naked. Nasal pore margin black. Black bands on snout.
Distribution:
In the western Atlantic known from Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and northen South America.
Remarks:
The present species differs from A. vulpes by much prolonged last dorsal and anal rays. (Uyeno and Aizawa)
