Specimens examined：5 (DW 132〜194 mm; ♂3, ♀2). Depth：525〜566 m.
特 徴
（科）：背鰭はない。尾鰭は良く発達する。腹鰭後葉の内側約1/2は尾部と癒合する。（属）：吻は細く伸びるだけでふくらんだ部分がない。（種）：吻は比較的短かく，口前長は体盤幅の33〜37％。体盤背面は円滑で粘液孔がある。成熟した雄では体盤後側部に4列からなる棘をもち，腹鰭は全く胸鰭から遊離する（幼魚の腹鰭は雌と同じく胸鰭と癒合している）。上顎歯列数は雄で22〜23，雌で26。体盤背面はうすい茶褐色。体盤腹面は黒褐色を呈するが，吻部，口の周囲，肛門周辺，および腹鰭前葉の外縁は白色である。
分 布：
北緯16°36’からスリナム沖にかけて報告がある。
備 考：
メキシコ湾から知られるA. longirostrisの口前長は体盤幅の52％である。 （上野・三宅）
Distinctive characters
(Family)： Dorsal fin absent. Caudal fin well developed. Inner margin of posterior lobe of pelvic fused with tail. (Genus)： Snout not expanded terminally. (Species)： Snout relatively short, preoral length 33〜37％ of DW. Upper surface everywhere smooth with mucous pores. Mature males with 4 rows of alar thorns, and the inner margin of pelvic fin completely free from pectoral fin (pelvic of young fused with pectoral as in males). Total 22〜23 teeth rows on upper jaw in males, 26 in females. Upper surface light brown; lower surface blackish brown except snout, around mouth, anus, and outer margin of anterior pelvic lobe.
Distribution：
Reported from 16°35’N to off Suriname.
Remarks：
A. longirostris, known from Gulf of Mexico, has longer snout, so that preoral length equal to 52％ of DW. (Uyeno and Miyake)
