スミスオトヒメハマグリ（新称）
Vesicomya smithi Dall, 1889
特 徴：
殻長73mm，殻高58mm，幅53mm。殻は厚くハマグリ型で左右によくふくれる。殻頂は前方に寄って位置し，前に傾く。前縁〜腹縁〜後縁は円満な曲線を描くが，後腹隅は殻頂から後腹隅に走る鈍い稜のため僅かに張り出す。小月面は明瞭な線で区別され大きい。楯面は不分明。殻表は白亜質で白く，成長脉は明らかで所々段がついている。薄い殻皮をかぶる。殻内も白い。?板はやや長く，?歯は2個あり歯槽は深く掘れ込み，側歯を欠く。前殻の閉殻筋痕は明瞭で，とくに前筋痕の後縁はもり上っている。套湾入は殆どない。
採集記録：
水深50m（死殻1）。
分 布：
小アンチルス諸島，スリナム沖。
備 考：
Dall（1889）がブレーク号によって小アンチルス島沖880fmsから採集して以来の再採集と思われる。
Diagnostic characters：
Length 73 mm, height 58 mm, breadth 53 mm. Shell solid, inflated, veneroid in shape. Beaks anterior to the middle, prosocline. Margins gently curved except weakly angulated postero-ventral corner to which a blunt ridge runs from umbo. Lunule impressed, escutcheon indistinct. Surface chalky white, with growth lines occasionally stepped, with a thin periostracum. Hinge plate elongate, with 2 cardinal teeth, deeply hollowed sockets. Adductor muscle scar distinct, risen just behind the anterior adductor scar. Pallial sinus slight.
Distribution：
Lesser Antilles and off Suriname. Shelf to bathyal.
Remarks：
This may be a re-discovery of this species since it was collected by the Blake (Dall, 1889).
