Length 40 mm, height 50 mm, breadth 18 mm. Shell thin, oval, equivalve, shallow. Both ears small. Beak slightly erect. Hinge line short but straight. Margins gently curved. Surface with numerous finely scaled, radial ribs that sometimes discontinuous or bifurcate. Surface white with brownish periostracum. Internally white, with ligament in the center of hinge plate. Both valves gaping a little in front.

South Carolina, Florida, Texas and off Suriname. Shelf.
Remarks:
Typical C. scabra scabra has rougher radial ribs in comparison to this delicate subspecies.
