Length 60 mm, height 50 mm, breadth 20 mm. Shell thin, oblique with straight hinge linge. Postero-ventral portion protruded. Left valve deeper than right. Beaks anteriorly stuated. Below right anterior ear presents byssal notch. Postero-dorsal portion rostrate, below which being a deep concavity. Surface with irregular growth lines, black clouds and pale brown ripples on yellowish brownish background. Interior with strong pearly lustre margined by yellowish prismatic layer with black blotches. Cardinal with slender ridges below slender ligament.

Remarks:
This species has much shorter posterior ear than P. colymbus which is the commonest pteriid in this zoogeographic region.
