特 徴：
殻長60mm，殻高50mm，殻幅20mm。殻は薄質，?線はまっすぐでそれから後隅へ向って斜めに傾いている。左殻は右殻より深く且つ大きい。両殻とも，殻頂は前に偏倚していて，その前方に前耳がある。右殻の前耳の下には足糸の出る凹みがある。前縁から腹縁にかけてはゆるやかなカーブを描き後腹隅は張り出す。後縁は凹み，後背縁にのびる嘴状部との間に湾入を作る。殻表は不規則な成長脉がある。左右殻は色と模様が対象的とは限らない。地色は黄縁ないし黄褐色で，その上に黒色の雲状斑（主に殻頂から後腹隅に至る稜線に沿いその前後に著るしい）があるほか淡褐色の漣状模様もある。内面は真珠光沢強く，外縁は黄色地に雲斑がある。?板は狭く，細い靱帯の下に細く低い膨みがある程度。
採集記録：
水深93〜97mの腔腸動物に足糸で固着している。
備 考：
この海域で知られている同属の種はP. colymbusがあるが，同種は後耳がいちじるしく長いので異る。
Diagnostic characters：
Length 60 mm, height 50 mm, breadth 20 mm. Shell thin, oblique with straight hinge linge. Postero-ventral portion protruded. Left valve deeper than right. Beaks anteriorly stuated. Below right anterior ear presents byssal notch. Postero-dorsal portion rostrate, below which being a deep concavity. Surface with irregular growth lines, black clouds and pale brown ripples on yellowish brownish background. Interior with strong pearly lustre margined by yellowish prismatic layer with black blotches. Cardinal with slender ridges below slender ligament.
Distribution：
Off Suriname, 93─97 m.
Remarks：
This species has much shorter posterior ear than P. colymbus which is the commonest pteriid in this zoogeographic region.
