Height 34 mm, breadth 25 mm. Shell thin, globular, involute without showing spires externally. Surface shining, with some 50 brown striations with various width, interval and darkness, as well as pale yellowish brownish spots along the growth lines. Base with slit-like umbilicus between columellar lip and siphonal fasciole. Aperture wide, with thin outer lip and gently curved columellar lip. Animal huge and never being accomodated into the shell.
Distribution:
Florida to Brazil and Bermuda.
Remarks:
It is so much close to the Pacific H. physis which is hardly taken as different species.
