スリナムシワバイ

特 徴：
殻高83.0mm，殻径32.1mm，殻は堅牢で紡錘型。殻は白いが褐色で厚い殻皮を被っている。約6.5階で各層に縦肋をもち，次体層で21条。体層では殻底にまで至らない。縦肋を螺肋が横切るが，螺肋と間溝は幅がほぼ同じ。次体層で10〜12本，下（前）方にゆくほどあらくなる。殻底にも20本ほどの螺肋がある。殻口は狭い卵形で，外唇殆ど平滑。内唇から軸唇にかけての滑層外縁部はいぶし銀様の光沢がある。蓋は木の葉形，核は下位。
採集記録：
水深420m（生貝3）。
備 考：
本種は北太平洋亜寒帯系のPlicifusus escychusツムバイなどに酷似している。Bartschia canetaeも近い種。
Diagnostic characters：
Height 83 mm, breadth 32 mm. Shell solid, elongate fusiform, with 6.5 whorls, covered with thick brown periostracum. Spires with axial ribs, 21 on the penultimate whorl, not reaching to the base on the body whorl, overridden by slender spiral ribs, 10-12 in number on the penultimate whorl, tending to become coarser abapically. Base with more 20 spiral ribs. Aperture narrowly oval with smooth outer lip. Callus deposited from inner to columellar lips with oxidized silverly hue. Operculum leaf-shaped with anteriorly situated nuculeus.

Off Suriname.
Remarks：
This species resembles North Pacific P. escychus. Bartschia canetae may be the closest ally.
