特 徴：
殻高125mm，殻径120mm。殻はやゝ薄質，整った円錐形をしている。各層は肩の所で角ばり，そこは切れ込み帯と一致している。上方の螺層は，螺状肋と成長脉が交わり布目状であるが，後方の螺層では，密な成長脉を螺溝が切るようである。成長脉の曲線は切れ込み帯の上部，切れ込み帯中及びその下ではそれぞれ異なり，成長脉に幾分沿うようにある赤色の火焔状模様の傾き方もそれに従う。体層では切れ込みが殆ど半周に及び，殻底周縁は鈍く角立つ。殻底は僅かに膨らみ，ほぼ等間隔の螺溝が20数本走る。臍孔は広く，頂上まで見通すことが出来る。殻の地色はむしろ黄色で，火焔彩は不規則で，濃淡もある。殻内は真珠光沢強く，外唇は薄く，切れ込み帯より上部の方が少し前に出る。軸唇はいく分斜めで殆どねじれない。
採集記録：
スリナム沖60m（国立科学博物館所蔵標本Mo 54900）。
分 布：
キイウエスト，フロリダ，バーミュダ，小アンチルス諸島，スリナム沖。上部陸棚帯。
Diagnostic characters：
Height 125 mm, breadth 120 mm. Shell trochoid, rather thin, with moderately inflated spires shouldered at selenizone. Earlier whorls cancellated with spiral and axial riblets, but later whorls with several spiral grooves that cut crowded, raised growth lirae. Inclination of growth lirae different amog subsutural ramp, within selenizone and below that. Reddish flames on yellowish background coordinate with their inclinations. Basal periphery angulated. Base weakly inflated, with regular 20 or more spiral grooves. Umbilicus widely open, umbilical walls of upper whorls visible inside. Anal slit very long reaching about the half of diameter of the body whorl. Aperutre subquadrate, with thin outer lip. Columellar lip slightly inclined, but never twisted.
Distribution：
Off Key West, Florida, Bermuda, Lesser Antilles and off Suriname. Upper shelf to slope.
