Mantle conical, 22 cm in length (attains 40 cm in full grown stage), flabby. Fins extend to the entire length of mantle, attached to the dorsal mantle, fusing with both lobes together forming a rhombus with U-shaped notches on mid-dorsal and mid-ventral ends. Arms long and stout with a slight swellings at the tips where black photophore presents. Two series of hooks sparsely present. Tenetacles absent. A pair of photophres in pallial cavity and other two pairs embedded in mantle tissue. Extended tip of the penis frequently protruded out of the mantle.
